The new health and social care secretary,  Wes Streeting, declared “We will make Britain a powerhouse for life sciences and medical technology. If we can combine the care of the NHS and the genius of our country’s leading scientific minds, we can develop modern treatments for patients and help get Britain’s economy booming.”

This is a promise to make Britain a powerhouse for life sciences and medical technology. NHS England has heavily invested £175m for 11 sub-regional secure data environments to help accelerate innovation between research and the NHS.

To accomplish this highly prioritised government agenda, research and NHS organisations are already partnering to deliver healthcare improvements for citizens.

One prime example is- Imperial College Healthcare Trust, NIHR Imperial BRC with iCare (Imperial Clinical Analytics, Research & Evaluation) and Northwest London Integrated Care Board with Whole System Integrated Care- who are trailblazing the partnership between research and the NHS to improve patient health outcomes.

Imperial College Healthcare Trust is a founding member of Paddington Health Life Sciences with a remit to improve health and reduce inequalities by connecting communities, researchers and industry centred around St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington to bring health innovation to life.

HSJ are organising a webinar on 26 September from 10:30 am – 11:15 am for researchers and organisations interested in learning more about how the NHS and research are collaborating. Follow this link to register to attend the webinar.
