The West London Training and Research Hub, based at London Medical Associates within the West London GP Federation, supports 39 GP practices across the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. We aim to deliver high-quality training, foster research excellence and ensure fair access to development opportunities for all primary care staff and the diverse communities we serve.
Our Population
We serve a registered population of approximately 290,000 patients spanning Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, reflecting the rich diversity of West London. Our communities represent a broad mix of backgrounds and circumstances, from highly affluent neighbourhoods to areas with greater health and social needs. This diversity enables us to support research and training that is relevant, inclusive, and impactful across a wide range of clinical and social factors.
Our Research
Our work is guided by the priorities set out in the local Health and Wellbeing Strategies for Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea. We focus on improving health outcomes, reducing inequalities, and supporting people to live healthier lives by ensuring our research and programmes are responsive to the needs of our communities.
We have a dedicated clinical space at St Charles’ Centre for Health and Wellbeing, equipped for research clinics, study visits, and participant follow-up. All research staff are trained in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
A robust data sharing agreement with local GP practices enables secure, efficient, and ethical access to patient information for research, supporting timely recruitment and follow-up.
Governance and Leadership
The Hub is led by a multi-professional team, including a Clinical Research Lead, Training and Research Lead, Coordinator, Pharmacists and Nurses, supported by the Primary Care Business Development Lead and the Head of Training and Research. Our governance structure ensures strategic oversight, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
