Qualitative and Mixed-Methods Research

In recent days, the NIHR has been encouraging researchers to explore qualitative approaches and broaden their horizons with mixed-methods research, aiming to gain deeper insights into health research and its impact on the general population.

A mixed-method approach is a valuable research design because it leverages the strengths of both qualitative and quantitative methods. In health research, it is particularly significant as it provides a more comprehensive understanding of complex phenomena by incorporating diverse perspectives.

One strong, already established network is the NIHR Bristol BRC- Qualitative Research Network. This offers colleagues from all BRCs an opportunity to collaborate informally on a national scale. The network actively facilitates collaboration and the development of innovative research methods.
